Public Notice

Sanitary sewer overflows occurred at the following locations:

• 63 E. Maple Street in Sturgeon Bay from April 14, 2026, at 6:30 a.m. to April 15, 2026, at 6:30 a.m.

• 107 N. 1st Avenue in Sturgeon Bay from April 14, 2026, at 6:30 a.m. to April 15, 2026, at 6:30 a.m.

• 816 N. 14th Avenue in Sturgeon Bay from April 13, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. through April 17, 2026.

These overflow events were caused by significant rainfall and rapid snowmelt following a recent blizzard. These conditions resulted in excess water entering the sanitary sewer collection system, temporarily overwhelming the sewer mains. A small amount of wastewater was released as a result.

Due to the limited volume, the overflows did not pose a risk to public health or cause environmental harm.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has been notified of these events.

Residents and businesses are encouraged to help prevent future incidents by ensuring sump pumps are not connected to the sanitary sewer system and by properly disposing of grease, wipes, and other non-biodegradable materials, keeping them out of the sewer system.
