For Sturgeon Bay Utilities, the people of our community are not only our customers, they’re our owners! As a municipally-owned utility, our reason-for-being is not profits. Instead, it’s meeting the needs of our community through the following:
Customer service – Our staff is responsive and knowledgeable. If we don’t have an immediate answer to your question or issue, we will work diligently to figure it out.
Reliable utility service – Our reliability is at the top of the charts compared to other utilities. As a not-for-profit entity, our funds are used to build well-engineered, redundant systems that benefit our ratepayers for many decades of consistent, reliable performance.
Competitive rates – We strive to maintain rates that are average or lower than similar-sized utilities in our region by operating efficiently and utilizing best practices for our industry.
Asset to the community – As a municipal-owned utility, the benefits of our operations through low rates, high reliability, and payments-in-lieu-of-tax, accrue to the community.
Stewardship to the environment – Unlike many industries, our operations are linked closely to the environment. We are proponents of efficient and responsible practices that result in our children inheriting a planet in better shape than we found it.
Safe operations for our employees and the public – There is inherent danger in the work that we do at SBU for the benefit of our customers. Job Number One for us is that every member of our staff goes home safe and healthy every night. This is the first and most important element of providing safe and reliable utility service to the community.
