811 Know what's below. Call before you dig.

Before you pick up your shovel this spring, call 811 at least three business days in advance to have your buried electric and natural gas lines located, for free.

No matter where you live, the gas, electric, cable TV, water and sewer lines that serve you may be underground.

If you are planning a project that involves digging, state law requires you to notify Diggers Hotline at least three working days in advance. We'll come to your home at no charge to mark the buried utilities on your property, so they won't be cut or damaged by you or your contractors. It's one phone call that can save time, money — and your life!

To notify of your intent to dig:

  • Call 811 or

When excavation is complete, it is the duty of the ticket holder to remove marking flags and stakes.

At large worksites, it is the duty of the general contractor to remove flags and stakes.

If paint marks or flags have been destroyed due to excavation site activities, weather or other means, a relocate request should be filed with Diggers Hotline.
