SBU celebrates Public Power Week the first full week of October, along with more than 2,000 other electric utilities that collectively provide electricity on a not-for-profit basis to 44 million Americans. Public Power Week is an annual event that celebrates the benefits of locally owned and operated electric municipal utilities. As a public power utility, we provide many benefits to our customers and the community. Some of the major benefits include:
- Lower electric rates than most investor-owned utilities.
- Local control of the utility operation.
- Reliable and responsive customer service.
- Quick outage response from utility crews.
- In-lieu-of-tax payments to the city’s general fund.
- Emphasis on long term community goals.
- Ability to work with other departments within the city.
We are pleased that we are able to serve the City of Sturgeon Bay and the surrounding area since 1904. We look forward to serving our customers for many years to come.
