Power supplier adds 51st member (5/21/09)

Sturgeon Bay Utilities power supplier, WPPI Energy, recently welcomed a new community to its membership. At its April 2009 Executive Committee meeting, WPPI Energy executed a long-term power supply contract with the City of Crystal Falls, Mich.

“We welcome the City of Crystal Falls to our joint action agency,” said Jim Stawicki, General Manager. “Growth in membership provides benefits for all WPPI Energy members in terms of load diversity, greater economies of scale in the acquisition of new resources, and a stronger market presence.”

SBU is a member of WPPI Energy, a nonprofit power supplier serving 51 customer-owned electric utilities. Together, WPPI Energy members share resources and own generation facilities to provide reliable, affordable electricity to more than 192,000 homes and businesses in Wisconsin, Upper Michigan and Iowa.
